Fabrication And Forming of Stainless Steel

Duplex Steel

The Duplex steel is basically made from a mixture of two steel materials. The mixture includes austenitic and ferritic microstructures in equal ratios (50-50). the basic concept behind mixing these two microstructures was creating something strong and extraordinary.

Duplex Steel

Duplex steel has great ductility which provides great efficiency and stability. This grade has great welding capacity and toughness.

The duplex was first developed in 1930. It was first supplied to the customers who needed to reduce the intergranular corrosion. In those early days, this grade was being used in the form of bars and plates in the paper and pulp industries.

In the 1970s and 1980s, the second generation of Duplex steel was invented. The grade also has high durability. This grade came to a climax in the 1970s only because of its ability to resist intergranular corrosion.

Duplex steel is commonly used for the manufacturing of seashore and other commercial applications. Duplex steel grade has the most astonishing durability and strength. It includes an increased amount of nitrogen and other elements.

Duplex provides excellent protection from various chemical and physical reactions. The grade provides great resistance from corrosion, crevice corrosion and stress cracking. The grade also has a high-temperature bearing capacity.

Chemical Composition

The chemical composition of Duplex includes a high amount of nitrogen. The grade also includes elements such as chromium, molybdenum, copper, tungsten, and nickel. The combination of these elements provides excellent protection to the grade. It provides excellent ductility and durability. The duplex grade provides excellent malleability and stability.

Lean Duplex

Lean duplex is the low alloyed version of stainless steel which provides high efficiency and effectiveness to the grade. It is commonly used for industrial purposes. Lean duplex steel is made from high-quality elements like nickel, chromium and molybdenum. Lean stainless steel has many uses, they are highly used in the oil and gas extraction or manufacturing industry. It is generally also applicable in heat exchangers, firewalls and boilers.
