Inconel 625 Plate

Nickel Alloy 625 plate is used for its high strength, easy fabrication (including joining), and outstanding corrosion resistance. Service temperatures range from cryogenic to 1800°F (982°C).

Inconel 625 Plate is a corrosion and oxidation resistant nickel alloy that is used both for its high strength and outstanding aqueous corrosion resistance. Its outstanding strength and toughness is due to the addition of niobium which acts with the molybdenum to stiffen the alloy’s matrix. Alloy 625 has excellent fatigue strength and stress-corrosion cracking resistance to chloride ions. This nickel alloy has excellent weldability and is frequently used to weld AL-6XN. Nickel Alloy 625 Plate is used for its high strength, easy fabrication (including joining), and outstanding corrosion resistance. Service temperatures range from cryogenic to 1800°F (982°C). Alloy 625 derives its strength from the stiffening effect of molybdenum and niobium on its nickel-chromium matrix – thus eliminating the need for precipitation-hardening treatments.

Inconel 625 Plate has excellent strength at temperatures up to 816℃. At higher temperatures, its strength is generally lower than that of other solid solution strengthened alloys. Inconel 625 Plate has good oxidation resistance at temperatures up to 980℃ and shows good resistance to aqueous corrosion, but is relatively moderate compared to other more capable corrosion resistant alloys.

Fabrication and Heat Treatment

Inconel 625 can be machined using conventional machining methods which are used for iron-based alloys. Machining operations are performed using commercial coolants. High-speed operations such as grinding, milling or turning, are performed using water-base coolants. Inconel 625 is welded using gas-tungsten arc welding, shielded metal-arc welding, gas metal-arc welding, and submerged-arc welding methods.
